Windmills @ Campo de Criptana

On 1 September, we decided to head to Campo de Criptana in Castilla La Mancha which is about two hour drive from Madrid for windmills. The mills are built on a slope hill and are about 300 steps away from the town.

The windmills were used to grind wheat for bread making aided by wind force. Previously, there were 32 mills but now only 10 left. The three oldest mills were built in the sixteenth century, the rest were built in the twentieth century.

Currently, few mills are available for visiting, we paid €0.60 to visit one of the oldest mill named Infant which retains its original structure and mechanism from the sixteenth century.

After sightseeing, we went to the town for our lunch which is quite disappointing as most restaurants only have finger food rather than a proper meal. In the end, we found one restaurant inside the Casino which can prepare macaroni with chorizo for Enrique. For us, we ordered a few small plates of finger food which is not interesting….that's why I did not post any pictures here.
